I started 8 years ago when I took voluntary redundancy from a corporate career and resolved that I never wanted to work for somebody else again. I sent flowers to my mum for her birthday and thought I could do this better and so I started what became a successful letterbox flower business. I added plants to the range 3 years later and within a year I had exited flowers and became an online houseplant business. Between 2019 and 2021 I went from 3 employees and a £600k business to 75 employees and a £5m turnover. We sell everything from prayer plants to palm trees throughout the UK and we’re now the second largest houseplant retailer in the UK. My biggest achievements are creating a business and team I love, closely followed by speaking in the House of Lords earlier this year on plant regulations.
